Madison Bumgarner resumes throwing after dirt bike accident

SAN FRANCISCO – Finally, there’s some on-field action for Madison Bumgarner.

The Giants’ left-handed ace played catch for the first time since he separated his left shoulder in a dirt bike accident on April 20. He threw on flat ground Tuesday, first from 45 feet and then moving out to 60 feet.

He made a total of 45 throws and told Giants manager Bruce Bochy that he felt good.

Bumgarner was supposed to start throwing on Thursday but “he’s been doing so well that he wanted to bump it up and the training staff said sure,” Bochy said.
