SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–It’s not every day a pitcher throws a complete game in Cactus League play.
It’s not every day it rains at spring training, either.
Giants ace Madison Bumgarner is known for pitching deep into games, but he only needed to throw five innings in a 4-2 win over the Brewers Tuesday. After the top of the fifth, rain showers hit the Scottsdale area and the two sides agreed to call the game.
First complete game in Cactus League history?
“It might be,” Bumgarner said with a laugh.
If Mother Nature cooperates, it will be the only complete game a Giants pitcher throws this spring.
