SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner struck out a career-high seven straight batters Tuesday evening against the Astros, surpassing his previous mark of five consecutive strikeouts.
The streak also matched the Giants' San Francisco-era record held by Juan Marichal and Jonathan Sanchez.
The Giants' ace allowed singles to Jose Altuve and Carlos Gomez to begin the game before fanning the rest of the Astros' lineup in order.
After Buster Posey caught Altuve trying to steal third in the first, Bumgarner whiffed Carlos Correa and Evan Gattis on curveballs.
