How Giants’ offense is leading team’s surge: ‘You’re never going to know who’s going to be the player of the night’

The San Francisco Giants take pride in their balanced offensive success and Monday’s 4-2 series-clinching win over the Arizona Diamondbacks provided one of the best examples of why the lineup has turned the club into a legitimate playoff contender.

A four-run sixth-inning rally against D’backs right-hander Zac Gallen, one of the best pitchers in the National League, started when the No. 7 hitter, Pablo Sandoval, and No. 9 hitter, Mauricio Dubón, grinded through tough plate appearances to earn walks. Their No. 8 hitter, Joey Bart, also drilled a single into the left center field gap as the bottom of the order set the table for the top to do damage.
