Giants top pitching prospect Shaun Anderson to make MLB debut Wednesday

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants using an opener for the first time Tuesday will be followed by a much more traditional baseball concept: The debut of a top prospect.

Shaun Anderson will start for the Giants on Wednesday against the Blue Jays, marking the MLB debut for a hard-throwing right-hander widely viewed as one of the organization's most promising prospects, and their top young pitcher. Anderson, a 24-year-old who gives off a Thor vibe, was in camp with the Giants this spring and impressed with his stuff and demeanor, and he was always expected to make his debut at some point this year.
