SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Vogt grew up a Giants fan and 12 years after making his professional debut as a member of the Rays organization, Vogt has received a chance to play for the team he watched during his childhood.
The Giants promoted the Visalia, California native from Triple-A Sacramento Wednesday and optioned reliever Ty Blach to the minors. Blach surrendered seven earned runs in 3 1/3 innings in a blowout 10-3 loss to the Dodgers Tuesday.
To clear a 40-man spot for Vogt, the Giants placed Double-A pitcher Logan Webb on the restricted list. Webb was suspended 80 games Wednesday after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
