Giants return to house of horrors in Cincinnati led by promising new arm

CINCINNATI — It’s hard to fathom any National League team suffering more defeats than the Giants did during the two-year stretch from 2017-2018.

The Cincinnati Reds managed to do it.

The Reds lost a combined 189 games over the last two seasons, dropping 95 in 2017 before improving by just a single win in a 94-loss campaign last year. The Giants finished 137-187 during the same time period, so it’s not as if they were significantly better than their counterparts in the NL Central cellar.

Judging by their matchups at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, the Giants were actually far worse.
