NEW YORK–After the Giants went 5 2/3 innings without recording a hit against Reds starter Matt Harvey Saturday, manager Bruce Bochy woke up Sunday and felt compelled to shake up the lineup.
It’s a tactic he’s tried several times since the All-Star break, and who could blame him? The Giants aren’t scoring and they’re not quite ready to make wholesale changes to their roster, so Bochy has attempted to restructure the order to find a winning combination.
The members of the Giants’ veteran core, however, haven’t produced.
