Two and a half million reasons exist for De La Salle southpaw Kyle Harrison to forego spending the next three years at UCLA.
The Giants offered a $2.5 million signing bonus to lure their third-round pick in last week’s MLB Draft out of his college commitment pending a physical, as first reported Monday by Marc Delucchi on Twitter.
The Giants had to more than triple the $710,000 slot value for Harrison, who lasted until the 85th pick partly due to signability concerns.
“Giants are getting a winner and a great kid,” De La Salle head coach David Jeans tweeted Thursday.
