CINCINNATI – Johnny Cueto continues to manage a blister on his pitching hand and is expected to take the ball in Sunday’s series finale here against the Reds at Great American Ball Park.
But he might not have Gold Glove shortstop Brandon Crawford behind him.
Crawford is eligible to be activated from the 10-day disabled list on Saturday, and his strained right groin is making progress. But there is rain in the forecast both for Friday’s series opener and most of Saturday. Starting Crawford on a wet field wouldn’t be a good idea, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said.
