SAN FRANCISCO – It couldn’t have been easy for Chris Heston to go from authoring a no-hitter to opening this season as the long reliever to an even more significant demotion Friday, when the Giants shipped him out to Triple-A Sacramento.
But GM Bobby Evans said Heston understood that there would be season-long adjustments to the bullpen – and that his job on the big league staff wouldn’t be easy.
He’ll return to the rotation at Sacramento, not only so he can get stretched out again in case the Giants have a sudden need in the rotation, but also so he can use side sessions to regain confidence in his mechanics.
