Giants hit the waiver wire, acquire three players, subtract two from 40-man roster

SAN FRANCISCO — It was expected that Giants’ president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi would devote most of his time this week to hiring a new manager.

Even if that’s where Zaidi’s attention is focused, he’ll always have an eye on Major League Baseball’s waiver wire.

Zaidi was busy on Tuesday as the Giants added three players and subtracted two from their 40-man roster. San Francisco acquired former Rockies pitcher Rico Garcia, former Angels infielder Kean Wong and former Royals pitcher Trevor Oaks.

To open 40-man roster spots, the Giants designated outfielder Mike Gerber and pitcher Ricardo Pinto for assignment.
