SAN FRANCISCO — What steps is Giants ace Madison Bumgarner taking as he recovers from a left-shoulder sprain suffered last month?
“Ride horses, dirt bikes. We’re getting back on them,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy joked. “He’s feeling better.”
Bochy can have a sense of humor about the injury that Bumgarner suffered in a dirt bike accident in April because he’s expecting the team’s top starting pitcher to take a “big step” in his recovery during the Giants six-game homestand, which kicks off Friday with a three-game against the Atlanta Braves.
The Giants manager said Bumgarner will probably start throwing during the team’s homestand, which concludes Wednesday with a bout against the Washington Nationals.
