Brandon Belt's humility is boundless. When the local Baseball Writers of America chapter present Belt with its annual Bill Rigney Good Guy Award on Wednesday, he said, "I should have won this my first year in the league. That's fine. Seventh year is good."
It's your eighth year, Brandon, but fear not. Math is not a criterion for the honor.
The writers made their presentation just outside the clubhouse, with Belt on crutches, as he arrived for treatment five days after undergoing surgery on his right knee.
