Former San Francisco Giant Ryan Vogelsong Signs with Twins

Vogelsong, who won two World Series rings in San Francisco, was originally drafted by the Giants. The 39-year-old right-hander pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season, going 3-7 with a 4.81 ERA.

Ryan’s story is truly remarkable. After being drafted by the Giants in 1998, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2001 along with Armando Rios for Jason Schmidt. Vogelsong struggled in Pittsburgh, and in 2006, ended up in Japan.

The long winding journey indeed continues. Praying for a great year… https://t.co/W8vPhxmKOm

After four years in Japan, the Giants signed him to a minor league deal in 2011.
