Steven Duggar’s only played 19 games in right field this year, 10 at Oracle Park.
And while the wide plains of the ballpark’s centerfield — Duggar’s typical stomping grounds — are a challenge to navigate in and of themselves, right field is a virtual minefield of obstacles.
The ball tends to carom funkily off the bricks. This we know, but a more present danger looms just left: the opposing team’s bullpen.
Duggar tripped over the mound trying to catch DJ LeMahieu’s fly ball in the first inning of Friday night’s game against the Yankees. He ended up hurting his right wrist and will miss a start on Saturday to heal up.
