SAN FRANCISCO -- Johnny Cueto's return to the Giants' starting staff in Thursday's 11-2 loss to the Cardinals at AT&T Park wasn't exactly what they intended.
Cueto, who began the season in promising fashion until inflammation in his elbow forced him to miss San Francisco's next 61 games, looked vulnerable against St. Louis, who amassed five runs and 10 hits off him in five innings.
Cueto was particularly susceptible to the long ball. Jedd Gyorko laced a three-run homer in the first inning before Matt Carpenter went deep in the second.
