Major League Baseball has no interest in looking at maps of Oakland and telling the A’s where to build a ballpark.
Commissioner Rob Manfred said at a news conference Monday that his “overriding thought” on the A’s is keeping them within their current market. Where in the current market is up to the team and the city.
The A’s have maintained a desire to build a park on the current Coliseum site, an issue complicated by the Raiders’ pursuit of a new stadium. Mayor Libby Schaaf has been pushing for the Howard Terminal site on the Oakland waterfront, not far from the city center.
