You may not be aware of this, but not only is Bruce Bochy retiring at the end of 2019, he’s also just a couple of games away from making his Hall of Fame career even more Hall of Famey.
There are currently 10 managers in baseball history who have accrued 2,000 or more wins. (Obvious side note: All 10 of those managers are in the Hall of Fame.) With two more wins, Bochy will join them as the 11th. He still has a chance to crack the top 10 in wins—Leo Durocher stands ahead of him with 2,008 wins—but that would require the Giants going 11-1 the rest of the season.
