Bochy piloted the 1991 High Desert Mavericks, a San Diego Padres affiliate, to the 1991 Cal League title. That was the second of three championship teams Bochy led during five Minor League managerial seasons. He also managed San Diego's Cal League outpost in 1990, when the Class A Advanced affiliate was based in Riverside.
Former infielder Bill Mueller is another nominee with Giants ties who will appear on the 15th-man ballot. Mueller, San Francisco's 15th-round selection in the 1993 Draft, batted .302 and compiled a .435 on-base percentage for San Jose, the Giants' longtime Cal League affiliate, in 1994.
