Trending SF Giants News: Matt Cain "good to go," Casilla "ahead of schedule"

In today's Giants news update, San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain should be ready to make his scheduled start when the Giants return home to face the Mets on Friday.

"Cain is good to go," said manager Bruce Bochy (via Henry Schulman of SFGate.com), when asked if Cain would be healthy enough to take the mound on Friday.

Per Schulman, "Cain threw a 70-pitch bullpen session and felt no pain in his right hamstring, an injury that has cost him two starts and landed him on the disabled list."

Santiago Casilla "ahead of schedule"

Casilla suffered an injury to his right hamstring on the same night Cain went down with his two weeks ago. Casilla's injury was more serious that Cain's, but Bochy says that he is doing “real well."

"He ran some poles in St. Louis," added Bochy. "He felt it a little bit, but he’s really ahead of schedule. He’s been throwing and doing some running.”
