3 San Francisco Giants Players Who Have Been A Disappointment So Far In 2015

You can’t win them all every single month of every single baseball season, and these next three guys are living proof of that. Here’s our list of San Francisco Giants Players Who Have Been A Disappointment So Far In 2015.

OF Justin Maxwell

Maxwell has been a dud for most of his first year with the Giants, posting a .208/.258/.353 slash line while serving as a major liability against right-handed pitching. He's shown some pop as of late in an extended role necessitated by injuries elsewhere, but he's still trending below his modest career averages in almost every major statistical category.

3B Casey McGehee

McGehee is hitting to a troubling .213/.275/.299 slash line, providing little to no production off what has been a thin bench for the defending champs all season long. He's already the subject of trade rumors just a few months into his first year with the team, and the Giants won't even be able to recoup much for him at this rate if they do pull the trigger on a deal.

LHP Jeremy Affeldt

Via Bill Baer of NBC's Hardball Talk:

Affeldt, 36, was hit around for four runs on three hits and a walk in his most recent appearance on Thursday against the Padres. He was unable to record an out before he was lifted. It appears his ailing left shoulder was to blame. Even aside from that outing, it’s been a tough year for Affeldt, as he owns a 5.96 ERA with a 13/11 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings.

Affeldt was placed on the disabled list just a day or so later with a strained left shoulder, so hopefully some rest and recovery time will help get him back into a workable groove on the mound.
