USF Comes Up Short in Extra Innings to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Getting back to work on Saturday afternoon, the USF Dons baseball team (16-25, 7-16) competed hard as a team before ultimately coming up short in extra innings to the Santa Clara Broncos (26-15, 12-8) by a 3-2 final score from Stephen Schott Stadium.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Both team's starting pitchers were on their game early as Dons' right-hander Adam Shew and the Broncos' staff took turns exchanging scoreless frames up until the bottom of the fifth.
  • Santa Clara plated the first run of the game in their half of the fifth on an RBI single, but Shew was able to come up big with three straight strikeouts to strand a runner on third base with the home team leading 1-0.
