Gaels Edge Dons in Game One

MORAGA, Calif. – Back on the road and returning to conference play, the University of San Francisco baseball team (24-25, 11-11 WCC) dropped their series opener at Saint Mary's (23-23, 7-15 WCC) on Friday afternoon as the Gaels narrowly defeated the Dons, 3-2, at Louis Guisto Field.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Striking first to defend their home field, Saint Mary's got on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single from Kyle Velasquez to take the early 1-0 lead.
  • With both starting pitchers finding their groove in the innings to follow, the Gaels would not score again until the bottom of the sixth as they plated two more runs on back-to-back solo home runs to extend their advantage to 3-0.
