Stanford's David Shaw Addresses Offseason 49ers Rumors

The San Francisco 49ers were rumored to be pursuing Stanford's David Shaw for their head coaching vacancy this offseason before hiring Chip Kelly.

Shaw addressed those rumors at Chat Sports' Minds Behind The Game event on Wednesday night, along with several other topics.

Simply put, Shaw said he never had any contact with the 49ers about the position - both this offseason and after they fired Jim Harbaugh. Stanford fans can rejoice - he also said that he never plans to leave Palo Alto. See his full comments above.

The 49ers are trying to rebound after a disappointing 5-11 record under Jim Tomsula, who has fired after just one season as the team's head coach.
