Christian Coelho and Luke Doe were already best friends before they upped the ante with a lifelong ink-based bond on their right and left thighs, respectively.
A home team tattoo is one thing, but Coelho, 20, and Doe, 19, went many steps further than that before the start of the 2021 NFL season: They got matching San Francisco 49ers tats that include the phrase “Trey Area,” a perilously risky dedication to rookie quarterback Trey Lance that hasn’t looked any less risky so far this season.
In conversations with SFGATE, neither Coelho nor Doe seem to care what strangers (especially internet strangers) make of their tattoos, even though Lance has yet to usurp the starting quarterback job from Jimmy Garoppolo.
