When the season began, most San Francisco 49ers fans were worried at the state of the safety room. With Jimmie Ward nursing an injury, the Niners had only two usable safeties on their roster in Tarvarius Moore and Jaquiski Tartt.
Once preliminary cuts went through, the Niners put Kentavius Street on IR and signed Exum back onto the roster while signing Harris to the practice squad.
Exum was an emergency starter last year when both Ward and former 49ers safety Adrian Colbert got hurt, and he played respectably.
