Niners fan Ross Hanson was shooting video of his friend posing with the Joe Montana statue in the Levi's Stadium plaza Monday night when a man launched himself onto the sculpture and grabbed Joe's face mask.
Not meant as a chin-up bar, the metal face mask snapped like a pretzel.
Footage showed the defacement took all of one second.
Hanson, executive chef of the Oak & Rye restaurant in Los Gatos, said the guy was drunk but didn't think he was trying to damage the artwork.
"It was a stunt for sure. I could see how bad he felt in his eyes when I was yelling 'What the f—, bro?
