Top things we’re learning as 49ers launch practices in Florida

BRADENTON, Fla.– As the 49ers begin three consecutive days of practice here at IMG Academy, they’ll do so with a couple new, defensive reinforcements — or familiar ones.

Safety Antone Exum re-signed to fill the roster spot that opened Tuesday upon kicker Chase McLaughlin’s release. Exum has been on and off the roster since 2017, including the first three games this season.

The 49ers activated the three-week practice window to evaluate defensive tackle Kentavius Street’s progress from multiple knee surgeries. He’s yet to suit up since being drafted in the fourth round last year. He’s spent this season on injured reserve, and the 49ers have yet to use either of their short-term IR designations.
