INDIANAPOLIS — A funny thing happened on Kyle Shanahan’s annual getaway to Cabo San Lucas: he ran into a few 49ers players, including tight end George Kittle.
Actually, a couple funny things then happened, and consider it much-needed comic relief after the 49ers’ Super Bowl defeat.

Shanahan, speaking Tuesday at the NFL scouting combine, jokingly recalled how they likely set a golfing record for taking five hours to play only nine holes down in Cabo.
Second, Shanahan jabbed Kittle here and there about looming contract talks on an expected extension.
“He told my wife how much he liked it here (on the 49ers), but he told my wife to promise not to tell me until after he signs,” Shanahan said.
