SANTA CLARA – Saturday marked the 49ers first practice with shoulder pads and contact this training camp. Here are the highlights:
1. Foster’s big day: Two hours after practice, Foster cleared a major, emotional hurdle by speaking with reporters for the first time since his offseason arrests and eventual clearance of domestic-violence charges. It was a media session mostly dominated by talk of those off-field issues — or “a big learning experience,” he said — but also with some football chatter.
