Three days after they hosted a free-agent Pro Bowl cornerback, it was reported the 49ers had some interest in trading for another Pro Bowl cornerback.
The 49ers had “lukewarm” interest in trading for Kansas City’s Marcus Peters, an Oakland native who is being dealt to the Rams for a package of draft picks, the NFL Network reported. A source told The Chronicle the 49ers never made an offer for Peters.
The 49ers’ interest comes after they visited with Vontae Davis, 29, a two-time Pro Bowl pick who was released by the Colts in November and is coming off groin surgery.
