The 49ers are on the verge of filling the last remaining major coordinator position in the NFL, according to a text message coach Kyle Shanahan sent to a media member.
NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reported Monday that San Francisco “should finish it all up this week” with regards to interviewing new potential defensive coordinators, per Shanahan. The Niners coach also said that the team completed two interviews for the position in the wake of firing Steve Wilks earlier this month.
Of the two names that were reported, the one that’s drawn the most intrigue is former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, but for the wrong reasons.
