Super Bowl party in Bay Area jail thwarted by guards

Officials put a stop to what may have been the Bay Area's most raucous Super Bowl party before it ever got started.

Deputies at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin confiscated what looks like a lot of prison wine ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office posted a photo on Instagram Saturday night showing dozens of bags of confiscated prison wine — an alcoholic beverage variously made from apples, oranges, fruit cocktail, fruit juices, hard candy, sugar, high fructose syrup, and even crumbled bread that can feature an ABV ranging anywhere from 2%-14% depending on the sugar content, quality of ingredients and time spent fermenting.
