It seems like every offseason the San Francisco 49ers face a decision whether they should extend one of their homegrown players. That won’t be any different this season regarding wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
Aiyuk has shown that he’s a No. 1 receiver in this league, having by far and away his best season as a pro. He needs one more touchdown to tie his career high, along with six receptions. We’ll see if Kyle Shanahan allows Aiyuk to reach those numbers before he gets pulled in Week 18 against the Rams. But Aiyuk has 300 more receiving yards than he did last season and is averaging more than five yards per reception than a season ago.
