The 49ers have addressed their injury riddled linebacker corps by signing Terence Garvin, 27, a five-year veteran who made three of his four career starts last year in his lone season with the Seahawks, a league source said.
Garvin, 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds, has been a core special-teams in his four-team career and has experience playing inside and outside linebacker. The 49ers are dealing with injuries at both spots: Outside linebacker Dekoda Watson (hamstring) was place don injured reserve Saturday, inside linebacker Malcolm Smith (hamstring) was inactive for Sunday’s season-opening loss at Minnesota and inside linebacker Brock Coyle (concussion) was injured in the fourth quarter against the Vikings.
