Son of Hall of Fame legend finds himself part of 49ers' latest roster cuts

In all honesty, second-year wide receiver Terique Owens was going to have a massive uphill climb to secure a spot on the San Francisco 49ers' 53-man roster.

A developmental player from the get-go, the son of Hall of Fame legend Terrell Owens couldn't originally hang onto a roster spot during his rookie season in 2024 when the Niners signed him as an undrafted free agent. The younger Owens found himself waived with an injury settlement prior to the regular season, only to return to the practice squad later that year.

Amid all the challenges San Francisco ended up facing at wide receiver entering 2025, though, there was a thought the second-year pro could finally take that next-level step and perhaps secure a spot on the depth chart.
