The defensive lineman with a Stanford education had quick response tonight when asked if it was meaningful to be John Lynch’s first draft pick as the 49ers general manager.
Said Solomon Thomas: “Definitely. And I want to make sure it’s the best draft pick he’d had.”
After a trade with the Bears, the 49ers selected Thomas with the No. 3 pick, a move that was widely forecast by draft analysts. Given his affinity for the Bay Area, Thomas, who attended high school in Texas, said he was hoping the analysts were correct.
“In my head, I was like ‘I love that, but I can’t ride the rollercoaster,’” Thomas said.
