The San Francisco 49ers have officially made their way through the 2019 roster cut day. Their roster is looking slimmer with just 53 players under contract at the moment — down from the 90 that inhabited it just a day ago.
There were some tough cuts to be made this preseason with the 49ers being deep at a number of positions. And with an influx of new talent, the competition for roster spots was steeper than it had been in years.
Of course, the current incarnation of the 53-man roster won’t remain intact all year.
