Colin Kaepernick has made his point by kneeling during the national anthem, and now the 49ers quarterback will stand during the anthem beginning next season, ESPN reported Thursday.
The report says Kaepernick feels his protest has delivered his desired results — the message that social inequality still exists in this country — and that some positive changes have come from it, despite the backlash he’s felt. However, ESPN reported Kapernick no longer wants his method of protest to take away from that message.
Kaepernick, who is expected to opt out of his 49ers contract this week and become a free agent, began his protest at the start of last preseason.
