Report: After 49ers' complaints, NFL to examine MetLife Field turf

The San Francisco 49ers were victorious on Sunday against the New York Jets, but they weren't happy afterwards.

The Niners lost four irreplaceable starters to leg injuries — quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (high ankle sprain), running back Raheem Mostert (suspected mild MCL sprain), defensive end Nick Bosa (suspected torn ACL) and defensive tackle Solomon Thomas (suspected torn ACL) — a bizarre string of lower-body ailments that multiple players as well as head coach Kyle Shanahan speculated was due to MetLife Field's new turf.

Apparently, the NFL has taken notice, too. According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the NFL's field operations department "will take a closer look at the situation based on the concerns raised by the 49ers," though Florio does not expand on what that means exactly.
