Pros and cons behind an 18-game regular-season NFL schedule

In case you missed some of the hubbub last week, owners are suggesting an NFL schedule change for the league’s next collective bargaining agreement.

A report from Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal (h/t Barry Werner of Touchdown Wire) broke down one of the suggested fixes for the NFL schedule, which would include adding two regular-season games to the 16 currently played.

Additionally, players on rosters would be limited to only 16 games, not able to play the full 18, meaning each playing a full season would have to be relegated to the inactive list at least twice during the regular season.
