For more than two years, Jack Hammer covered the San Francisco 49ers for the Press Democrat’s “Inside the 49ers” blog. On Saturday, the Press Democrat fired him after a series of social media posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, alleged that Hammer is actually Jeff J. Patterson, who previously pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a minor.
In 2005, Patterson was the head football coach at Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill when he was charged with a felony related to an alleged assault of a student.
