There is so little buzz around the 49ers at the NFL Scouting Combine that even the juicy rumors that they're connected to have fallen short.
Rich Eisen said Monday that retired QB Philip Rivers reached out to the Niners late last season, but Rivers denied that on Tuesday.
"We all know two teams that were quarterback-needy at the end of the season, starting third-stringers, and had a chance to go to the playoffs and maybe make a deep run in the playoffs," Eisen said. "I'm referring to the Miami Dolphins and, of course, the San Francisco 49ers.
