SANTA CLARA – Patrick Willis was just 29 when he played his final snap as an iconic 49ers linebacker. He can’t (bleeping) fathom what Tom Brady is doing at age 41, much less Brady’s goal to play until he’s 45.
“To me, that’s crazy,” Willis said Tuesday in an exclusive phone interview with this news organization. “Mentally, when I finished, I felt so old and tired. Holy (expletive), how can guys play forever like that, all those years?”
Brady, 41, will appear in his ninth Super Bowl on Sunday, when he and the New England Patriots face fellow Bay Area product Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams in Atlanta.
