NFL is looking into banning normal tackle that played huge role in 49ers-Cowboys

Jimmie Ward broke Tony Pollard's leg on Sunday, and now the NFL is reportedly considering legislating the type of tackle Ward made out of the game.

The 49ers defensive back tackled Pollard from behind late in the second quarter of Sunday's divisional round game. Pollard suffered a fractured fibula and a high ankle sprain on the play; he'll need serious surgery.

The part of the tackle that the league is eyeing, according to the Washington Post, is when Ward drops his hips to help him pull down Pollard and lands on the running back’s ankle.
