NFL free agency: 49ers need to re-sign offensive guard Mike Person

Veteran offensive guard Mike Person needs to be back with the San Francisco 49ers in 2019.

The 30-year-old Person joined the Niners as a free agent on a one-year deal early in 2017, costing general manager John Lynch and Co. $630,000. That’s not much for a starting-caliber guard, who ended up securing the starting right guard spot over former first-round NFL Draft picks, Joshua Garnett and Jonathan Cooper in training camp.

Person ended up starting all 16 games, too. He never lost that starting job.

It made sense why San Francisco brought him aboard.
