Kyle Shanahan doesn’t envision bringing his dad, Mike, with him to the 49ers, at least in a formal capacity.
“As far as him working in the building and stuff like that, it’s definitely not been in the discussion,” Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday night at Super Bowl media access in Houston.
Not only did Mike Shanahan log 20 seasons as a head coach, doing so with the Los Angeles Raiders, Denver Broncos and Washington, but he also served as offensive coordinator on the 49ers’ last Super Bowl-winning team 22 years ago.
Now his son is trying to win the Atlanta Falcons win their first Super Bowl, and once he is done serving as their offensive coordinator, the 49ers can formally hire him as their coach.
