Linebacker Michael Wilhoite just isn’t used to this kind of treatment. A undrafted free agent who made the team from the practice squad, Wilhoite came off a training camp-long injury on Tuesday and was immediately installed into the starting defense along side NaVorro Bowman.
Even though Wilhoite started last year for the injured Bowman, the former safety from Washburn College doesn’t take anything as a given.
“It’s different,” Wilhoite said of immediately going with the starting defense. “In the past years, if I was hurt I probably wouldn’t even be here. It’s nice to know they value me, and see me as a guy who can come in and play right away.
