Light rail to 49ers games: VTA launches pricier express trains to Levi's Stadium

In an attempt to reduce costs to ferry 49er fans to Levi's Stadium and still provide a fast ride, the Valley Transportation Authority will test express light-rail trains beginning with Sunday's exhibition game against the Houston Texans.

The price for a single-game round trip will jump from $8 to $20, and a new season trolley pass for 10 football games will be $149, or roughly $15 per game.

The express service will skip nearly two dozen stations. Trains will leave from four stations only -- Great Mall, Santa Teresa, Diridon and Mountain View -- and make limited stops on their way to Levi's.
